Hello and welcome to our team, Bears Lifting in North Sydney. My name is Sam Struthers, and I've been training general pops and amateur athletes since 2006. A lot has changed in fitness, but the fundamentals certainly have not.
 
You need:
  • A supportive environment
  • Postural Strength
  • Neck, shoulder, knee and back care
  • Fluid Movement
  • A strong base to build Power
  • And specific conditioning for athletes  

Our Style of Training:

To avoid injury we like to make you strong in posture and movement, and improve your performance by turning strength into Power!

Over the years our training philosophy has remained the same;
Triple IC:
  1. Identify weaknesses and tightnesses (correspondence with a physio where needed).
  2. Isolate and restore mobility to these problem areas
  3. Integrate correct movement patterns (bending, squatting, lunging, pulling, pushing, twisting) and build strength to help prevent future discomfort.
  4. Condition your body with the power (speed and strength) and cardiovascular requirements as needed by each of you.

Timetable:

MONDAY:
​Grizzlies 6.15pm - 7.15pm
TUESDAY:
HIIT 6.30am - 7am
Cubs 7am - 7.45am (students class)
WEDNESDAY:
Grizzlies 6am - 7am
Sprints 6.30am - 7am
​THURSDAY:
Boxing HIIT 6.30am - 7am
Cubs 7am - 7.45am (students class)
Grizzlies 5pm - 6pm
FRIDAY:
Grizzlies 6am - 7am
SATURDAY:
​Party Sets: Grizzly strength training with a HIIT finisher at the end; best start to your weekend even if you've had a big night - with the added inspiration of joining a bunch for breakfast afterwards!

Grizzlies Lifting

Programs are written for beginner strength training and Olympic Weightlifting so you can train together. The format is generally two strength exercises, followed by assistance exercises and core work. As a coach and trainer I'm here to help and teach you so more guidance is given to new lifters as needed.

HIIT:

This is faster paced interval training to improve your power endurance. A lot of emphasis is put on technique, and is a good introduction for those wanting to improve their lifting skills with cardiovascular benefits.

Sprints:

Improve your cardiovascular fitness, recovery time, speed and lactate threshold. You go at your own pace but you'll all be training in similar intensity zones to give you the real sense of "all in this together." If you struggle with match fitness or need the 'push' of a group environment, this is perfect for you!
Meet at the gym, we sometimes use the upstairs hall, cardio equipment, or north Sydney Oval opposite
